Zuby was created by a couple of young entrepreneurs who are both renters and landlords themselves, who were fed up with the lack of tools available to do it yourself landlords and their renters. We set out to create a tool that leverages technology to make renting seamless, and we are offering it to landlords and renters anywhere in the U.S., for free.
Using the Zuby app, renters of properties with individual landlords can now securely pay rent with a bank account or credit card in a few easy steps, without having to worry about transfer limits or whether their payment went into the correct account. Zuby renters can also split payments with roommates, purchase renters insurance, build credit history, and easily order local movers, cleaners, handymen and more.
Landlords who manage their own properties finally have access to intuitive professional property management tools to help them make the most of their investment properties. Landlords use Zuby to securely collect rent online, screen renters with comprehensive TransUnion SmartMove reports, require renters to purchase renters insurance, create digital legal documents, purchase rent estimate reports, and order qualified local pros such as handymen, plumbers and electricians to quickly fix issues.

We Don’t Mess Around When It Comes to Security
Zuby was created to bring modern technological tools to make the lives or landlords and renters easier. We bring a young and fresh attitude to an outdated process, and generally try not to take ourselves too seriously, until it comes to security.
Rent payment represents most people’s largest monthly transaction, and landlords and renters both share a significant amount of personal information over the course of their rental relationship. We believe that using technology should make the safeguarding of this information better, not worse, and we make sure that our users are covered all along the way.
Our Payment Processing Partners Get It
We’ve spent, and continue to spend, a lot of time evaluating various payment partners, and carefully selected only those that adhere to the most stringent security practices. This ongoing process involves regular dialogue and continues monitoring of our partners, to ensure their ongoing commitment to technological and security best practices.
Dwolla powers our bank to bank transfers, and has security in it’s DNA. Dwolla uses sophisticated methods to protect and store data, and is an expert in cryptography, endpoint security and border protection. It conducts extensive third-party testing and uses tokenization and SSAE 18 SOC2 Type 2 protocols.
We process card transactions using Stripe, where security is always top of mind. Stripe is available for businesses in 26 countries, allowing them to accept payments from anywhere in the world. It is used by millions of companies, including some of the world’s largest technology businesses such as Amazon, Google and Facebook.
We Go the Extra Mile
We don’t just rely on excellent payment partners. We do our part to make sure our technology is as secure as possible by using the latest security best practices. We do not store payment information, and have designed our architecture in such a way that payments are subject to multiple layers of security, and that our programming and code can be quickly and regularly updated.
We Never Hold Your Money
Zuby never takes custody of your money, we simply transfer it from renters to landlords, so it is never at risk of being held in our account. Our partners are licensed money transmitters who transfer the money via the ACH network, and Zuby does not have access to it whatsoever.
